Young Dancers

Our annual Children’s Ball is the highlight of the dancing year for children all over Edinburgh and the Lothians.

This year, our Ball is on Friday 16 March at the Lauriston Hall, Lauriston Street, Edinburgh, EH3 9DJ dancing to Iain MacPhail and his Scottish dance band.

New this year… we are inviting all young dancers attending the ball to devise a dance. This will then be included on the programme for everyone to dance, published in our magazine “Dancing Forth” and have a tune written especially for it by band leader, Iain MacPhail.

The rules are simple:

  • 32 bar reel or jig
  • Must be progressive
  • Easy to learn
  • Fun to dance

All the information about the ball is available here, and this also tells you how to apply for tickets.

The programme of dances, with cribs, instructions and videos of how to do the dances is available here.

See you there!
