Introducing Martin Adam, Yoshi Shibasaki and Andrew Nolan

Martin Adam

Martin been dancing since starting at Edinburgh University in 1982 and joining the New Scotland Country Dance Society.  He presently splits his time between Edinburgh and New York, dancing in both cities; he also enjoys dancing Contra, English and Square Dance.  He gained his teacher’s qualification in 2019. 

Yoshi Shibasaki

Yoshi started dancing when he was in Japan and fell in love with Scottish dance and its music. When he was offered a job from Research Institutes in Kent and in Edinburgh, he did not think twice to accept the one in Edinburgh.

Yoshi joined our demonstration team in 1997 and danced in our Fringe festival shows, Strictly Scottish and Dancing Forth for many years, and has performed in Europe for the Branch. He completed his RSCDS Teaching Certificate with the Branch in 2018 and since then he has taught our Beginners and Intermediate classes.

When he is not dancing Yoshi enjoys playing the bagpipes.

Andrew Nolan

Originally from west London, UK, Andrew learned to dance at a local children's class and it has stuck with him ever since. He gained his teaching certificate while studying in Edinburgh and has been a regular at the annual RSCDS Summer School in St Andrews, initially as a pianist but more recently as a teacher and certificate tutor.
