Moira Reekie

Moira is a Borderer and has a long association with Scottish music, having begun Scottish country and highland dancing at the age of five. 

Moira continued to dance socially and competitively into adulthood. She is an experienced dance band pianist having played & recorded with such famous names as Andrew Rankine, Bobby Crowe, Angus Fitchet, Ron Gonella, and Dougie Maxwell of the Olympians, and has been a staff pianist at the RSCDS Summer School at St Andrews over many years. She has played for many courses in the UK, Europe, Canada and the USA, including Certificate classes. 

As a tune composer, most notably ‘Daggs of Craighouse‘ for the dance ‘Tribute to the Borders’, Moira has enjoyed successful collaborations with many dance devisors including the late Roy Goldring and John Bowie Dickson. Now retired from a career in music education she continues to play regularly for our classes and enjoys playing for dancers of all levels.
